Product Safety & Care Guide

At Mahogany Queen Design Co, we take pride in the craftsmanship and quality of our handmade items. To ensure the safety of your family and the long life of your custom pieces, please review our guidelines below.

🛑 Safety First

Many of our products, specifically our DIY Art Kits and Personalized Items, contain small parts.

• Choking Hazard: Small wooden pieces (such as individual name letters) and decorative accents are not intended for children under 3 years of age.

• Adult Supervision: All craft kits are designed to be a collaborative activity. Adult supervision is required at all times during painting and assembly.

• Adhesives & Paint: Our kits include non-toxic paints and adhesives; however, these should never be ingested. Keep all supplies out of reach of infants and toddlers.

🪵 Wood & Acrylic Care

Because we use premium natural birch wood and high-quality acrylic, your items require a little extra love to stay beautiful.

For Wooden Items (Signs, Domino Boxes, Money Sleeves):

• Avoid Moisture: Wood is a natural material that can warp if it gets wet. Keep your items in a dry, indoor environment.

• Cleaning: Dust lightly with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Do not use harsh chemical cleaners or wood polishes, as these can damage the custom engraving or paint.

• Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause wood to fade or naturally darken over time.

For Acrylic Items (Wall Signs & Custom Accents):

• Anti-Scratch: Acrylic is beautiful but can scratch easily. Always use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to wipe away fingerprints.

• No Chemicals: Never use glass cleaner (like Windex) on acrylic. It can cause the material to "craze" (develop tiny internal cracks). A tiny drop of mild dish soap and water is all you need for stubborn spots.

👕 Apparel Care (DTF & Sublimation)

To keep your custom-printed t-shirts looking vibrant and new for as long as possible, follow these specific "Pro-Wash" instructions. Proper care prevents the design from fading or cracking.

Washing Instructions:

• Turn Inside Out: Always turn your shirt inside out before washing. This protects the printed design from friction with other clothes and the washing machine drum.

• Cold Water Only: Use cold water on a gentle cycle. High heat can damage the adhesive in DTF prints and cause Sublimation colors to bleed or fade.

• Mild Detergent: Use a mild, color-safe laundry detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners, as these chemicals can break down the bond of the print.

Drying & Ironing:

• Hang Dry (Recommended): Air drying is the best way to preserve the life of the print.

• Tumble Dry Low: If you must use a dryer, use the lowest heat setting. Remove the shirt immediately once dry to prevent permanent wrinkling.

• Never Iron the Design: Do not iron directly over the DTF or Sublimation print. The high heat from an iron can melt or distort the image. If ironing is necessary, turn the shirt inside out and use a low heat setting.

Note: If you notice a slight "stiffness" to your new DTF printed shirt, don't worry! This is normal for new prints and will soften significantly after the first wash.

💡 Neon Sign Maintenance

Our neon signs use energy-efficient LED technology, making them much safer than traditional glass neon.

• Indoor Use Only: Unless otherwise specified, our signs are designed for indoor environments.

• Power Safety: Always use the provided power adapter. Ensure the cord is tucked away to prevent tripping or the sign being pulled off the wall.

• Heat: While LED neon runs cool, we recommend turning the sign off when not in use to extend the life of the lights.

🎨 DIY Art Kit Tips

• Painting: For the best results, paint the top and sides of each piece before gluing.

• Drying Time: Allow paint to dry completely (about 30–60 minutes) before applying adhesive.

• Less is More: When using the provided adhesive, a few small dots are usually enough! Over-gluing can cause the wood to slide or the glue to seep out the sides.
